Regarding my KristenDenton.com portfolio website…
I like it! I’m in the midst of trying to hire three designers here, so I’ve been looking at a ton of portfolio sites.
What I really appreciate is the ease of use. From the homepage and lower level pages, it’s easy to get around, move to the next project, etc. Also, having nice long descriptions of each project is fantastic. I can’t tell you how many people who are applying for a SENIOR Web Design gig can’t make a f—ing portfolio site. It’s sad.
And I love the nice big lander image on the homepage, along with the scrollable strip beneath it — getting right in people’s faces with the work immediately. SO many people put a long paragraph describing themselves and their approach to design, why they’re so creative, etc. Just show me your work, dammit! ; ) And this does that. I immediately started thumbing through projects because I wanted to see more. And I am not just saying that. I think the homepage is really effective.
Oh, and the Photoshop Goddess picture is AWESOME.
